PS3 Orders Slowing Down, Retailers Shying Away

If you take a look at eBay, Craigslist and the other sites out there, they are absolutely flooded with people trying to sell PS3's. There are even people trying to dump the PS3 for an EVEN swap for a Wii.(big loss)

You've seen the headlines for yourself:
PS3 not flying off the Shelves?
No Christmas cheer for stifled Sony
PS3 scalpers see profits drop - interest in PS3 waning
It appears retailers are taking a BIG notice of this. Word is that retailers are not placing orders for more PS3 systems due to such a supply of the systems on the Internet. There are also widespread reports of PS3 systems sitting for prolonged periods of time at store shelves.

The major issue for Sony is they have zero flexibility with the price. They have no room to drop the price to push more systems. If the systems don't sell, then the games will not come. Can anyone say Atari Jaguar?

You can say whatever you want but you have no proof. Every store in my town is empty; in fact every store I have tried calling is always sold out of PS3 and Wii. If you look at stats then you will see that PS3 is very close to goals set by Sony, acording to:
http://nexgenwars.com/
Sony has already SOLD 824,814 PS3s, that is almost one million in a under 2 months while xbox 360 is nearly one million short of its goal.

Also the PS2 has out-sold every other game system, so sony is still winning, every PS2 and PS2 game sold is another custumer htat needs PS3 to keep playing games.

Now, I'm far from a PlayStation fanboy as I'd much rather have a 360, but I mean, where are your sources? You offer no proof of what you are talking about. You provide no links to any kind of news story, or retail chain not putting in orders for PS3s. I'm pretty confident that if a store puts a PS3 on a shelf, it will sell, it's still in high demand. With that said, I'm not going to create a digg post on my own opinion.

I love:
A: your sources - none
B: Your statistical data - none

there are 5 wii's on the shelf at my local Jerkit City. Redding California, give them a call. Crappy graphics, who wants them?

BS there are Wii's sitting! There are no Wii's sitting anywhere.

There are signs at every walmart, Target, Meijer and even Best Buy in my area, that read "Sorry, we are sold out of Wii. No rainchecks."

However, I can find you a PS3 without breaking a sweat. There are PS3's at Target, Meijer, and Best Buy right now, as well as the 4 gamestop locations in my area, and the gamestops have had them in stock for close to two weeks now.

I personally have yet to meet somebody who's told me they are buying one of those sweet PS3's, but I do know people who have or are buying Wii's and 360's.

The sales figures don't lie, and to the person who claimed that PS3's are going for a premium on e-bay, you are a liar or an idiot. Here:

That's zero PS3 60's getting over 700 dollars. Zero. You can't count the ones that have NO bids.

The Wii auctions, for you slower students. Notice the markup on the wii's, and how they are actually selling them!

Facts are fun, kids.

Uh more xbot propaganda!

And Shane. Get back on topic sparky. The issue was "PS3 orders slowing down, retailers shying away."

Now, you can show as many ebay links as you want. All that shows is that SCALPERS orders at exorbitant prices are slowing down. Get it? People don't want to pay $1500-2000 anymore like it was at launch. Further more, Sony is making more PS3s. So that means that more PS3 will be available at stores at retail prices: $500-$600.

Now as far as this "doom and gloom" story. Bah! It's crap. Just like your crappy attempt as proving the authors premise. NIce try xbot! Now go back to playing Gears!

They're not totally gone yet. It is still in demand. Not as much as before, but STILL in high demand.

I can walk into most retailers in my state and finding them sitting on the shelf. However, I still have problems finding a Wii nunchuck for my sister, let alone another Wii console. One of her fiance's relatives whipped out a checkbook and asked them how much they wanted, they refused to sell.

As for retailers actually shying away, I doubt that. However, I doubt they are yelling at Sony to ship more in as much as they are Nintendo.

BusinessWeek, Asia, Dec 28th, states that it's expected that 6 Million PS3s will be sold by March 2007, and that PS2 will sell as many as 11 million more during the same period.

I think there is a jealous Microsoft/Nintendo lovers blogger blitz out there to downplay any success of Sony with the PS3, hoping that their consoles will sell better or gain more market share.

My own personal experience in the Best Buy on Thursday....they had a pallet of Wii come in and a half a pallet of PS3s. The PS3s disappeared first, of course there were less of them. And my local Gamestop had 3 people return PS3s for credit, and the store got in 2 new PS3, and they all sold/resold by 4pm that day.

Only time will tell, but I intend to get one, if anything to use for a Blu-ray movie player and run PowerPC Linux on it, besides a couple of games I'm excited about on the console.

listen its simple you can go about any game website and they're already saying that the ps3 demand is almost saturated or satisfied. i have YET to see a wii in box and ive been all over the state in stores walked over to the game department or went into a game store and i havent seen one, but i saw the same 5 ps3's at my walmart store all during december..and as of yesterday 2 of them have sold. my friend works there and she says at least 9 of the calls she answers are asking about when the wii's are coming back in. I think the ps3 is a really cool system. No one but a fanboy would say "it sucks, i hate it" i mean come on its really awesome and if i had the money id get it. but thats not what the blog is about , its about the simple fact that the ps3 sales are NOT what anyone a month or two ago would have thought. and the biggest surprise is the wii... bad graphics blah blah blah who cares.. 3.19 million console sales dont lie. quit being in such freakin denial if you love ps3 then get one and be proud. personally i have a 360 and im satisfied with it, and if any killer apps besides Resistance fall of man comes out maybe i'll buy one. but sony is starting to trip up.. its true so dont bitch just help support sony if you want, besides in the end..its all about the games!!!

History of Console Prices and Nolan Bushnell: failure pioneer. All the current platforms are very nice; price isn't much of an issue historically and Sony has never launched with many games worth playing and games drive console sales more than the reverse.
